Khalas Dates

In Arabia, I was the date kept aside for the most honoured guests. Today I grow under the Rajasthan sun, which turns me amber-gold and meltingly soft, with a natural caramel sweetness. I am Khalas, an indulgence that was never meant to be a guilty one. Have me just as I am, tuck an almond inside, or blend me into laddoos, kheer and smoothies for sweetness that needs nothing added.
